The lovely little town of Ankaran

Ankaran

The road leading from Črni Kal to the cost runs westward along the Rižana. The first village in the valley is Rižana. The initially narrow valley widens at Dekani and one kilometer ahead brings you to a major intersection.

The road continuing westward leads to a seaside resort stretching along the coast on the south side of the Milje Peninsula.

This area was already settled in the Antique period. A Benedictine monastery was built here in the 11th century; in the 18th century it was transformed into a summer residence and in 1922 into a hotel. It is a lovely, neat little town with luxurious Mediterranean vegetation and a kilometer-long sandy beach.

On the 150 meter-high rounded top of the Milje Peninsula lays the larger village of Hrvatini and several small settlements. Another road runs north-ward from the intersection at Dekani through Škofije to Italy.

Are you felling that it is getting warmer? And YES, it will get even warmer when we continue to the next areas of the Cost.
