Panorama Boats
First, all of the people who heard that were surprised. But in Slovenia there is a small valley called the Bohinj valley that is located near Bled. It has also a glacier lake like the Bled Lake, but it’s twice bigger. In addition it’s also colder because it has many inflows, but it is much more clean. In the summer it has an average temperature of 22 C, so it’s perfect in hot July and August to swim in it.It is located in the Triglav National Park which is the most famous of parks in Slovenia.
The T.N.P. is located in the Julian Alps which are part of the Alps. They stretch from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2864 meters at Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia and also all former Yugoslavia.
If you will be looking at pictures of a beautifull region, you will recognize the this valley by St. Janez’s church and the stone bride next to it. In is especially worthwhile looking at it in the winter, when it is carefully decorated.
In the last years there are two boats driving a round trip in the Bohinj Lake. They are on electric (because of the rules of the Triglav National park) and can drive up to 75 persons. On the boat you also have an explanation in 3 languages about the local history, places to visit, where can you do sports, get guides, borrow equipment and so on.(click the picture with the boat for the link)
At the end of the valley you can also go to Mount Vogel. You can go up there with a cable car. It is the most modern cable car in Slovenia and the third steepest in Europe. Its capacity is over 80 people. From the upper station of the cable car you have a amazing panorama of the whole region and also a very good starting-point for hiking trips to the local mountains.
When you follow the road from mount Vogel to the west, you reach waterfall Savica. It is 60m tall and the biggest in the country. It is the source of river Sava that is 990 km long and ends at Danube in Belgrade, Serbia.
These were some general guidelines, which will also be updated. In the region you can do many winter and summer activities, which will be described in the following pages. Please follow the links below for more quality content. COMING SOON Weather Accommodation Things to do in summer
