Crna na Koroskem, an old mining town

Crna na Koroskem is an old mining town. An ironworks stood here as early as in the 17th century.

The Meža River flows toward the north. Located in a ravine is the village of Žerjav with its extensive mining facilities. On the spot where the river leaves the ravine lays Mežica. Until recently, these settlements were engaged in mining. Today their major activity is tourism. The surrounding hills abound in lead and zinc mines.

After passing through Mežica, the Meža River turns eastward and runs through a pleasant valley past Prevalje, Dobja vas and Ravne na Koroškem towards the Drava Valley. A mere kilometer before its confluence with the Drava River, the Meža is joined by the Mislinja.

The entire region north and south of the lower Meža River valley is a land of wooded hills dotted with countless isolated farms. The road and railway run from the Austrian Podjuna Valley across the border at Homec and continue eastward towards the Drava Valley.

Our part is done. We presented you this beautiful area. It is up to you to visit it. See you soon...
