The Lower Drava Valley and the villages with in it

At the end of the Lower Drava Valley there is a hydro – electric power plant on the Drava near the village of Kamnica. Behind the dam is an artificial lake called the Maribor Lake. In the middle of the river is Mariborski otok (Maribor Island), a popular sports and recreation centre and a summer bathing ground.

Lying on the north bank beside Kamnica is Brestanica, where there is an automobile camp ground. At the end of the broad gravel deposit at the foot of the Pohorje hills are Limbuš and Pekre. A cableway takes you from neighboring Radvanje up to the Pohorje hills, which have developed into a winter sports center offering a network of ski lifts and extensive ski slopes.

Near Betnava, where the city suburbs begin, stands Betnava Castle. These settlements already lie on the Drava Plain. To the north the road and railway lead through Košake past the village of Pesnica to the nearby border crossing with Austria. Before the border crossing is the village of Šentilj.

Near Pesnica, the road running along the Pesnica River turns in the direction of Lenart in the Slovenske gorice hills and continuous on towards the Pomurje region.

From Tezno (Maribor suburb) a road leads southeast along the Drava to Ptuj and further on towards the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

That is it. See you there soon. And hope also on the best site to learn something new about Slovenia,Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Bohinj and many more.
