Slovenske Konjice, a town with history
Slovenske Konjice lie in the Dravinja Valley. Rising steeply upward on its south side is Konjiška gora. Nestled on a slope above Pristava are the ruins of Stari grad (Old castle). A manor house dating from the 17th century stands in the town, which already obtained market rights in the 13th century, and later became the center of the upper Dravinja Valley. The area began to develop at the intersection of the old Maribor – Celje main road and a secondary road descending along the Dravinja Valley. The new motorway bypassed the town.
