Trojane, once known as Atrans

West of Žalec the road leads towards Trojane and Ljubljana.

One kilometer ahead of Vransko, at Ločica, a road branches off the main road and runs through the Tuhinja Valley towards Kamnik. The development of Vransko was conditioned by the growth of traffic along the main road. In the 16th century the first postal station between Ljubljana and Graz stood here. Vransko was granted market rights in 1868.

The road forks at Dobrteša vas near Šempeter. One road joins the railway line running along the east bank of the Savinja River to the southwest towards the Paka Valley. The road leads through Podgora. Above the entrance to the Paka valley is Šmartno ob Paki.

This area is also connected with the Ljubljana – Celje main road by a parallel road leading from Šentrupert to the north along the west bank of the Savinja River. Lying on the right side are Gomilsko and Šmatevž with the nearby Žovneško jezero (Žovnek Lake). Overlooking the lake are the ruins of Žovnek Castle, the original home of the famous Counts of Celje.

The road then leads through the village of Trnova, Topovlje, Parižlje, Preserje and Braslovče (with the nearby Braslovče Lake) to Letuš, where it crosses the Savinja.
